Wasting Time

We had a lot of time to waste before our flight at 8, so we stopped by another waterfall and saw Independence Day: Resurgence (which was better than I thought it was going to be). Our already late flight got delayed an hour so that was a bummer.

Zip lining & Lava

We went zip lining which was super fun! The views were gorgeous and the guides were funny, so we all had a blast! Afterwards, we wasted some time looking at some waterfalls. We ended up stopping by a lava flow that was nearish to where we were staying. The boys hiked right up to it while we only went about a mile. We could still see it from a distance so it was still pretty cool.

Volcanic Crater

We got to go to a black sand beach (Punaluu), where I attempted to walk barefoot, but that only lasted about 30 seconds. We went to a volcanic crater and while we waited for the sunset we hiked through some caves nearby.

We watched the sunset at the crater and after dark you could see the lava glowing and it would come up the sides, which is apparently pretty rare!

Lu’au

The adults had to go to the a time share talk, so we didn’t get to do anything until 3. We went souvenir shopping and I got a cute shirt. Then we went to a lu’au which was pretty cool!

Kiholo Bay, Hiking Adventure

We went hiking today over beaches and huge lava rocks to get to a lagoon. On the way, we saw a tiny fish out of the water, so I picked it up and put it back in the water, but I think it was too late. There were also a bunch of goats, and we had a great back and forth conversation. At the lagoon, there wasn’t good snorkeling, but there were a lot of turtles; I was able to get up super close and get pictures with them. One of them actually looked at me and acknowledged me, so after our bonding session, I named him Charles. On the way back, Daddy and I found a baby coconut. Then, watched the sunset and I got a bug bite on my forehead (but Momma slapped my head so it wasn’t too bad).

Kealakekua Bay, Snorkeling

Today we went out on a snorkel tour. The fish were ones that we had already seen before, but we got to see them feeding more which was cool. Our captain also threw some food in the water and the fish swarmed around which looked awesome. I also saw a couple fish playing with each other; 2 kept circling around each other, stopping and then starting again, while others looked like they were playing tag. My favorite fish were the ones that are all black but they have a neon stripe where their fin is; they looked really sleek. The boat rides were also really enjoyable and our captain was really funny, but it did make my shoulder sunburn worse.

Celebrating 4th of July

Today we went to Anaehoomalu Beach, but I decided to take a break from getting sunburned, so I, along with Momma and Aunt Robin, stayed in the shade reading while the boys snorkeled. Then we went to Waikoloa Bowl to watch fireworks. They had live music, but the opening band was a lot better than the one the main stage one.

Kua Bay, Boogie Boarding

I got a sunburn on my butt from snorkeling yesterday, so that sucks. Went to another beach and boogie boarded all day; it was fun but I got a rash on my stomach and another bad sunburn on my shoulders and back. Also, Daddy and I tried to copy what some teenage boys near us were doing (me riding on Daddy’s back) and that failed the first time but mostly worked the second. Then we visited some lava tubes and the boys hiked down in them a little ways.

Snorkeling & Mauna Kea

We went to a beach which had really good snorkeling. I saw 2 sea turtles there too, and the second one almost bumped into me! We then went up to the tallest mountain, Mauna Kea. It was really cool to see the clouds below us. There was also super good stargazing, including a constellation of  across that can only be seen from 2 places in the United States: Hawaii and Florida.
