Monument>Antigua

Fun times getting up at 2:30 in the morning to go to church. I went to bed at like 10 and was prepared to get 4 hours of sleep, and then I look at the clock and it’s midnight, so… The plane ride from Houston to Guatemala City slowly and steadily got delayed, all adding up to leaving an hour late. We had an hour bus ride from Guatemala City to Antigua, but it didn’t feel that long. Probably because we were all eating and talking and I wasn’t really tired because I had just slept really well on the plane. We hit the ground running doing an amazing race game all over the city, it was fun, but my feet are definitely tired. We got awesome journals, some really great flaky Guatemalan food with creme inside, and then ate a delicious chicken dinner at Pollo Comparo. I tested out some Spanish on locals, it wasn’t that good, but it wasn’t that bad either. Everybody is so tired and slap happy, it’s hilarious!

Sydney>Denver

We finally got on the plane home! Now don’t get me wrong, I loved the trip, but after 17 days, I wanted to see my family again. After I ate lunch on the plane, I tried to sleep because I wanted to try to get on Colorado time… It didn’t work but it was worth a shot! If you ever go on a long distance trip on a plane and they offer you a Mango and Cream Bar, take it, they were delicious!!

After giving my family hugs and getting my passport and luggage, we met my Aunt Robin at a BBQ restaurant so I could tell them all about my trip!  I was really tired, but we looked at pictures and passed out souvenirs, then I crashed on the drive home!

Sydney>Brisbane, Koala Sanctuary

We made it to Australia after a long flight. At least the seat T.V.s had movies, T.V. shows, and games and music. The seats were also really comfortable so I slept surprisingly well!

We landed in Sydney where we met our manager, Alana, then we flew right to Brisbane since we had missed the first 2 days of touring we were supposed to do in Sydney. When we got there, we went to a Koala Sanctuary where we got to hold koalas, feed kangaroos and see platypi and dingos. The kangaroos were really sweet and the koalas were too, but the koalas were a lot heavier than they seem. After that, we went to this canoeing club thing for dinner. It was small but everybody was really nice. The kids went outside to play tiggie (tag) in the rain; then we went inside to celebrate Mason’s “forgotten” birthday and have dessert. It was really fun but everyone was really exhausted. Did I mention Australian patties taste super good!?!
